History;
Kamui was, quite simply, born with the fate of the world in his hands. He is The Kamui; the one said to be the key to the final outcome of the Apocalypse. He was born with extraordinary psychic and telekinesis powers, which were designed to help him in his battle. Kamui's destiny was planned out for him, but not entirely: there was one thing that was his decision, and it was very, very important. He could make the choice to become a Dragon of Heaven (the seven Seals; a group of powerful humans like himself that were also destined to fight alongside The Kamui), who wish to save humankind at all costs, or to become a Dragon of Earth (the seven Harbringers, also powerful and destined to fight with The Kamui), whose only desires are to save the earth, even if it means the destruction of all mortality.

One fateful day, a fifteen-year-old Kamui came home from school... to find his mother being burned alive inside the firey demolished mess that used to be their house. Though he tried his hardest to save her it was to no avail; she died with one last, final wish; for Kamui to return to Tokyo and fufill his destiny. Respecting his mother's wishes, he did just that; though his personality changed drastically. Kamui became angry, bad-tempered-- and surprisingly violent, for someone his size. This was mostly a façade on his part, however: upon his arrival he was immediately put under attack everywhere he looked, and was certain everyone was only out to get him despite not even knowing why. The cold attitude, apart from the violence, was put forward to push away other people that weren't dangering his life. Kamui was honestly terrified that other people would get hurt, especially Kotori and Fuuma (now 15 and 18), his two childhood friends (they used to be pals before Kotori and Fuuma's mother mysteriously died by exploding... yes, exploding).

Despite Kamui's best efforts, his two friends still managed to get involved with him as much as he tried to distance himself. Kamui soon discovered his future with the help of a few Dragons of Heaven, and tried to escape from it, feeling torn between such a huge decision. As a result, Kotori and Fuuma's father died trying to protect am mysterious artifact in their Shrine. And no matter how hard he tried, his fate continued to catch up with him: he found out just why his two friends's mother has exploded: she'd given birth to a Shinken; the sword he was supposed to use in the Final Battle. However, Kamui soon realizes that his aunt, who shows up after he does, it supposed to give birth to one as well: a second Shinken, which foreshadows what might be coming in the future, along with his friends's father's final words to Fuuma: "you... are Kamui's...".

Soon afterwards, Kamui's aunt does explode just as was predicted, leaving a mentally destroyed Kotori and a traumatized Fuuma and Kamui in her wake. Kamui, realizing that his only desire is to keep Fuuma and Kotori safe, finally makes his choice: he will become a Dragon of Heaven and protect humanity. Unfortunately this caused a massive miscalculation that no one could have ever predicted: the awakening of the second Kamui, Kamui's "Twin Star", who was born to take the place as the other Kamui for the side he did not choose to join. And it happened to be the worst possible person: Fuuma. Fuuma became the Kamui for the Dragons of Earth, taking his own Shinken from Kamui's aunt. The gentle and kind young man completely inverted, turning into a sadistic, destruction-intent monster. His awakening ended with Kotori dying, and Kamui being severely injured, both physically and mentally. As a result of this horrible torture, Kamui went "inside of himself", trying to hide from all the pain. Que the arrival of Subaru Sumeragi (a Dragon of Heaven and also the most powerful onmyouji in all of Japan); a 24-year-old man whose history was strangely similar to Kamui's: he was hurt by the one he loved, who turned into someone completely different upon doing so, and then killed his sister. Feeling a connection to Kamui because of this, he used his onmyouji powers to go into Kamui's heart and convince Kamui to come back out, which was, ultimately, successful.

After this harsh slap of reality, Kamui reverted back to his true personality, no longer needing the cold personality he used to bear. He became the shy, pure little Kamui he's always been, though he's never quite been the same after the first incident with Fuuma. Afterwards, their fates continued and still continue, to intertwine, Fuuma leading his Harbringers; Nataku, Setsuki, Yuuto, Kakyou, Kusanagi and even the man Subaru knows quite well; Seishirou, and Kamui leading his Seals; Subaru, Karen, Yuzuriha, Seiichiro, Sorata, and Arashi. While the Harbringers attempt to destroy all of the "Seals", the buildings, placed around Tokyo to keep the earth stable (yeah I know, I don't understand this logic either), the dragons of Heaven try to prevent it. As of currently, Kamui has jsut recovered from a battle with Fuuma which left many people dead, including Kamui's acquaintance, Saiki. Kamui suffered several serious lacerations and bruises, including a ton of broken ribs so... he's still a little pained. Kamui's final end as The Kamui is still unclear, and in a horrible twist of irony, the very person he wanted to protect most is now the one he has to fight. Even worse, he still cannot create a Kekkai; the sheild used by the Dragons of Heaven to prevent destruction when fighting... Anyone else think this kid needs a vacation right about now?

GOOD THING because when Kamui recieves his invitation to the Toujours Hotel, Sorata insists on him getting some away-time from the hellhole that is his life. Worried that something bad will happen when he leaves, Kamui tries to resist, but well... he was kind of against six other people, and didn't have much of a chance. He ends up getting shipped off anyways.

Personality;
Kamui has always been a very timid and soft-spoken person, even as a young child, and the trauma he's experienced has only strengthened this aspect of his personality. He is shy around unfamiliar people (and is often overwhelmed by people that are so cheerful they sparkle... take Keiichi, for example, who still freaks poor Kamui out a little), but enjoys the company of those who are kind to him. He is trausting and tries to see the brighter side of others... but if they hurt him, he is heavily affected by it. His past is obviously quite miserable and Kamui often seems sad and seclusive when he remembers the things that have happened to him and others.

He also appears to have a fixation with Fuuma... well, an obsession, kinda. Fuuma is one of the most important things in Kamui's life, and Kamui is both terrified of him (the guy likes licking him and pinning him to things using glass, so I think I'd be a little scared too) and desperate for him. His biggest wish is to have his old Fuuma back, this dark substitute only reminding Kamui how different his friend had become and how trapped he is in his situation.

Kamui is an extremely loving person. When he becomes close to someone, he appreaciates them wholly. He is determined to keep the world and Fuuma safe, and tries his hardest to prevent people from being hurt. When they do become injured, he often blames himself, due to the fact that often times when others are affected it has to do with the Appocalypse, which in turn, is all somehow his fault. Martyrs... honestly...

Relationships;
Fuuma Monou: The Dark Kamui. His Twin Star. His Gemini. His best friend. Fuuma was born to take the place of The Kamui in whatever side Kamui did not choose to join. Kamui loves his best friend dearly, and the monster Fuuma has become devastates him. Kamui wishes in vain to bring the Fuuma he knows back, no matter what it takes. Unfortunately, since one of them apparently has to defeat the other in the end, Kamui is terrified at the moment that any second, Fuuma will walk in the door of Toujours looking for him and blow everyone/everything up.

Subaru Sumeragi: One of Kamui's closest friends. Their similar pasts connect them together and they are often very empathic to what eachother are going through.

Kotori Monou: Kamui's other best friend, and Fuuma's little sister. She's kind of dead, having been stabbed through the chest with Fuuma's Shinken. She might have been Kamui's first crush, but... she's no longer alive, and there's nothing Kamui can do about it. He can still angst, though. That's perfectly availiable.

§Keiichi Segawa: Kamui's only school friend. Despite how Keiichi's happy sunshine sparkles yay personality overwhelms Kamui daily, Kamui is truly grateful to have a friend like Keiichi. He feels a tie to normalcy when he's around the older boy, and likes to be around him, even if he can never tell Keiichi about the Apocalypse.

Sorata Arisugawa: Kamui's "big brother/father" figure. He takes good care of Kamui at the house for the Dragons of Heaven, making Kamui eat when he starts to look ill, helping Kamui change his bandages when he can't do it himself, trying to get Kamui to smile even now and then. Sorata is an all-around nice guy and Kamui appreaciates how kind he is to him.

Yuzuriha Nekoi: Kamui's "sister" figure. Her cheerful attitude can sometimes overwhelm Kamui as well, but he cares about her very much. Her cookies are really good, too.
